While everyone will agree that DevOps is good, it’s better than what we have done before, it’s the best workflow we have for now, and we also love everything associated with it. Whether be it developers who don’t need to write and rewrite codes again and again or operation team who impress the clients with their efficient CD/CD process, it seems like everyone gets what they want with DevOps. Well, according to the title, not everyone testers and quality analysts never get their dues when we talk about DevOps.
Invisible but Important presence
Although somewhere deep in the back of our minds we do think of the role of testers in the DevOps process but they are never given the dues they deserve. Testers do grind themselves away in the DevOps process, even especially with all the tools that DevOps come with. DevOps testers do use automated testing techniques, but they are simply not doing enough to meet the demands and the expectations of the today’s end user.
Not Enough
As mentioned before, automation testing can help a tester get the numbers about the app’s load-bearing capacity, the stability of apps after multiple code changes, benchmark and performance testing and more. But the issue comes with UI/UX heavy applications, this will be discussed at some length later. As only a small bunch of codes need to be tested, manual testing is the way to go, automated testing will take care if the new code is fitting perfectly with the existing codes.
Beauty is in the eye of the tester
As the competition in app market heats up and the end user literally is spoilt for choice, one of the ways for an app to stand out is to have user-friendly application. So, an application which is heavy on UI/UX meaning images, animations, and the lot. Automated testing cannot distinguish between colours, font sizes, gestures and most importantly the graphical response of a click. As applications harper more on UI/UX, a little appreciation of testers and quality analysts can go a long way.
