Public and Private Cloud
In cloud technologies, there are two types which are public and private. The public cloud services are provided by the leading providers of cloud technologies such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google cloud platform. By using public clouds, we are essentially renting a slice of their distributed data centre infrastructure whereas, in a private cloud, a dedicated cloud service is used by the organisation. Normally private clouds are either hosted by the organisation or by a third party service.
The hybrid cloud is a cloud computing technology that uses a mix of on-premises, public cloud services and private cloud services with orchestration between the two platforms. When newer technologies develop, strategies must be changed, infrastructure needs to be updated to keep up with the latest standards, therefore, the companies need a way of bridging current infrastructure and future investments to connect, innovate and survive. A hybrid approach provides the most stable foundation for this purpose.
The need for Hybrid Cloud
When the companies use public cloud services of AWS, Azure to store and manage their data, it is managed on a distributed system across a network of computers. Even though this system is reliable, there is a concern for the security of data. If the cloud service providers suffer any significant error, the company will be unable to access their data which may contain sensitive pieces of information.
In the case of a private cloud, the cloud services are operated and maintained separately in data centres either by the organisation or a third party host. Normally sensitive data are stored in private clouds but the con is that the increased costs for the equipment needed to purchase and it is a huge responsibility to maintain. The hybrid cloud computing essentially solves all these issues.
